EASD Study Group on Genetics of Diabetes meeting (EASD-SGGD)

The conference concluding the OMICRON programme was held in conjunction with the 5th Meeting of the Study Group on Genetics of Diabetes. The conference concluding the OMICRON programme has started in the Jagiellonian University Auditorium Maximum on 7 May 2015.

The programme was funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Its budget, which exceeded 4 million Euros enabled the creation of a modern research laboratory at the JU Medical College Faculty of Medicine, the employment of young, talented researchers, the organisation of a series of visiting lectures in Kraków, and participation of JU scientists in training courses at the leading European research centres. The conference is held in concjunction with the 5th Meeting of the Study Group on Genetics of Diabetes of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD-SGGD).

The opening ceremony was led by the JU Vice-Rector for the Medical College Prof. Piotr Laidler, the Dean of the JU Faculty of Medicine Prof. Tomasz Grodzicki, the head of the project Prof. Maciej T. Małecki, and the President of EASD-SGGD Prof. Tim Frayling. The invited participants include distinguished experts in the field of genetic basis of diabetes.
